Mary  Ellen Pennington

Mary Ellen Pennington, 78, of Gaffney, SC went home to be with the Lord Monday, October 11th, at Cherokee Medical Center, Gaffney, SC. Born March 30, 1943 in Gaffney, SC to the late James Edward Miller and the late Bonnie Hazel Mullinax, she is the wife of Johnny R. Pennington. They were married July 11, 1961, allowing them to celebrate 60 years of marriage this past year. Mrs. Pennington was a member of Draytonville Baptist Church, Gaffney, SC, loved Gardening, Farming, Reading the Bible and Women's World Magazine. All of her cows were given names, and held a special place in her heart. 

In addition to her Husband, Johnny Pennington, left to cherish her memory are two Daughters; Patty P. Thomas (Johnny) of Blacksburg, SC, and Aimee P. Bailey (Ronnie) of Gaffney, SC; one Sister, Rosie "Shell" White (M.C.) of Blacksburg, SC and a Daughter in law, Lisa Pennington of Gaffney, SC.

Also surviving and continuing her legacy are 9 Grandchildren, Melanie Henderson (Forrest), Neely Thomas (Trina), Brandon Pennington, Craig Pennington (Sam), Joshua Bailey (Kaitlin), Maura Bailey, Lane Bailey (Brittany), Kaimee Bailey, Carrie Pennington; 3 Step Grand Children, Brett Ruppe, Leanne Scoggins, Kelli Wright; 11 Great Grand Children, Kelci Thomas, Danica Henderson, Tanner Kirby, Kaleb Thomas, Trinly Thomas, Ethan Thomas, Kinsley Thomas, Jaedon Holden, Lindlee Bailey, Paisley Blanton, and Kaysen Parrish and 1 Great Step Grandchild Lexi.

Preceding her in death are Sons, Johnny Edward Pennington and Shannon Keith Pennington "Toby" and Sisters Loise Mullinax and Betty Jean "Josie" Pennington.

A Graveside Celebration of Life Service is scheduled for Friday October 15, 2021, 3 PM at Draytonville Baptist Church Cemetery with Revs. Robert Ivey and Keith Harrill officiating. Visitation will follow at the cemetery. At other times the family will be at the home of her Husband Johnny, 403 Draytonville Rd. Gaffney, SC 29340.
