Marion Daniel "Danny" Ray

Marion Daniel "Danny" Ray, 65, of Blacksburg, SC passed away Thursday, October 21, 2021 at his residence. A native of York, SC, he was the son of the late James Andrew Ray and Elizabeth June Johnson Ray. The husband of Lisa Ray, he was a member and deacon of Broad River Baptist Church, Blacksburg. He was a 1976 graduate of Blacksburg High School and was a maintenance welder with Industrial Minerals. Danny never met a stranger and enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing football and watching the High School play on on Friday nights. He spent a lot of time in the yard and also enjoyed horses.

In addition to his wife, cherishing his memory are his daughters; Ashley Nicole Ray (Charlie Lyles), Hannah Ray and Elizabeth Gilfillan, all of Blacksburg; one granddaughter, Brianna Ray and grandson, Zachary Ray. His brothers; Tommy Ray, Rock Hill, Johnny Ray, Blacksburg, Pratt Ray, Belmont, NC, and sisters; Marie Tesika, York, Betty Chason, Sharon, Terry Conner and Anne Grigg, both of Shelby, NC, Augusta Webster, Kings Mountain, NC an Mary Allen, also of Shelby. 

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Angela Ray and brothers, Jimmy Ray and Douglas Ray.

The family will receive friends Sunday, October, 24, 2021, 2:00-3:00pm at Broad River Baptist Church. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 3:00pm with Rev. Danny Meetze officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Broad River Baptist Church.
