John J. Smolick

John Joseph Smolick, 68, formerly of 208 W. Carolina St., Blacksburg, SC, passed away February 27, 2018,  at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.  He is the son of the late John and Edith Davis Smolick.  Born in Cook County, ILL, he was a member of Love Valley Baptist Church, Kings Mountain, NC.   He was a retired forklift driver for Joslyn Manufacturing, Chicago, ILL.  He was an avid fan of the Chicago White Sox.

He is survived by two sisters - Judy Harper and Joyce Alison both of California; five nephews; three nieces; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters - June Smolick and Joan Lill.  

The family will receive friends Saturday, March 3, 2018, from 12-1:00 PM, at Love Valley Baptist Church.  A Celebration Of Life Service will begin at 1:00 PM, with Rev. Barry Philbeck officiating.  Private burial will be held at a later date.  At other times, the family will be at their respective homes.
