Gary Alton Upchurch

Gary Alton Upchurch, 71, of 402 S. Charleston St, Blacksburg, SC, left this world for the next at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, May 15, 2018, surrounded by loved ones. He will continue to be loved and missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his incredibly devoted wife of 51 years, Dianne Hardin Upchurch; their loving daughters, Amanda (Mandy) Upchurch Grigg, and Margaret (Meg) Upchurch Newman and her husband, Jeff; and three grandsons, who brought him much joy, Tristan Grigg, Carson Grigg and Ben Newman. Additionally, Gary is survived by his loving sisters - Linda Dover and Trudy Martin; wonderful brothers and their spouses, Ronnie "Booger" Upchurch and wife, Deidre, and Scott Upchurch and wife, Cleetie; and a special brother-in-law, Cecil Martin.

In addition to his parents, Thomas Alton and Margaret Moss Upchurch, he was preceded in death by a beloved grandson - Alex Newman; one brother-in-law - William E. "Junior" Dover, Jr.; and one nephew - Ronnie Wayne Upchurch, Jr.

The family will receive friends Friday, May 18, 2018, from 1-2:30 PM, at Nazareth Baptist Church, 1156 Ninety Nine Island Road, Blacksburg. A Celebration Of Life Service will begin at 2:30 PM, with Cecil Martin officiating. Entombment will follow at Clingman Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers serving are Tommy Dover, Clint Upchurch, Matt Martin, Josh Upchurch, Phillip Martin and Randy Patterson.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Cherokee County Meals On Wheels or The American Cancer Society.
