Doris Johnson, 89, of 149 Black Rock Rd., Blacksburg, SC, passed away, Sunday, June 29, 2025, surrounded by family.
Born in Cobb County, Ga. she was the wife of the late Claude Junior Johnson and the daughter of the late John and Mary Stroup.
She enjoyed going to Farmer's Markets, processing and canning, loved orange and yellow roses and her favorite memory was when the family went panning for jewels. She was also known for her recipes, especially her wilted lettuce and onions dish.
Left to cherish her memory is a daughter, Dorothy Melton, bonus daughters, Rita Patterson, Connie Johnson and Anita Martin. Grandchildren Tiffanie Goodwin (Doug), Susan Bailey, Patrick Johnson, JR Johnson (Heather), Amanda Rice (Jeremy), Chris Snipes (Jennifer), Angela Strickland, Haley Stroud, Tylan Stroud and Jonathan Berry. 14 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death sons John Johnson and George Johnson, a daughter Sherry Berry, a brother John Stroup. She will be sorely missed by her heart and best friend, Jasper Johnson.
A Visitation of family and friends will be held Wednesday, July 2, 2025, starting at 10:00 with a Graveside services, Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 12:00 pm at Westview Gardens Cemetery, 1123 Edgewood Road, Bessemer City, NC, with the Rev. Clay Jones officiating.
Pallbearers serving will be family members.
