Bobby Gene Atchley, 76, of 155 Francis Rd., Blacksburg, SC passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by family. He was born in Rutherford County, NC to the late John & Effie Atchley, and married to Carolyn Costner Atchley.
Left to cherish his memory, in addition to his wife, are three daughters, Jenny Crotts (Alan) of Gastonia, NC; Barbara Crumpton (Don) of Richmond, VA; and Nikki Harkey (David) of Belmont, NC; seven Grandchildren, Brandon Crumpton, Christopher Harkey, Joshuah Crotts, Shaila Crumpton, Hannah Thompson, Sierra Hough, and Taylor Harkey; five Great grandchildren, Maddison Crumpton, Emma Thompson, Lilliana Harkey, Grayson Thompson, and Nolan Harkey. Also surviving are Sisters, Lucy Kiser and Annie Johnson (Joe). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Sam & Buddy Atchley; sisters, Ethel Atchley, Ruby Givens, Mary Causby, Hazel Atchley, and Betty Colesworthy.
He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict and was a member of Free Will Baptist Church in Gastonia, NC, he loved taking his wife and children camping, hiking Crowder's Mountain, walking other state parks, going to the Schiele Museum, fishing, and singing in church with his wife and children.
A Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, November 15, 2024, at White Columns from 3-5 pm with Rev. Steve Crumbley officiating. Burial will be Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 11 am, at the Garland Cemetery in Elizabethton, Tn.
