Betty Jean (Brackett) Chapman

Betty Jean Chapman, 85, of Blacksburg, SC, passed away Sunday, January 22nd, 2023 at her residence. She was born January 23, 1937 in Cleveland County, NC to the late Murphy and Bedie Hudson Brackett and wife of the late Jimmie Jesse Chapman. Betty worked in textiles, most recently, Weavetec in Blacksburg, SC. In her free time she loved the outdoors, cutting grass, gardening, and visiting the beach.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by 3 brothers, Toby, Randy, and J.C. Brackett;  2 sisters, Selma Faircloth and Barbara Ann Brackett; and a son-in-law, Bryan Widener.

Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Carolyn Widener, and Sandra Wilson (Keith), 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.

A gathering of friends and family will be held Tuesday, January 24, 2023 from 11:00-11:45 AM at White Columns Funeral Service, with a Graveside Celebration of Life Service to follow at 12, Clingman Memorial Gardens, Blacksburg, SC with the Rev. Steve Waters officiating.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Camden Lockhart, Travis Widener, Adam Summers, William Wilson, Derrick Upchurch, and Jeremy Widener. Honorary Pallbearer will be Melvin Sizemore.
