Rev. Billy Lynn Sanders

Rev. Billy Lynn Sanders, 91,  went home to be with his Lord  January 11, 2019.  He was born on June 30, 1927, in Birmingham, Alabama.  Most of his life was spent in Tampa, Florida, before moving to Blacksburg, South Carolina, upon retiring.  He is the son of the late Joel and Ethel Sanders.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Frances Metts Sanders; one brother -Charles Sanders; and one sister - Betty Sue Carrol.

He was a Veteran of the Navy and served during WWII and was a Southern Baptist Minister for over 50 years. 

He is survived by his son - Joel Sanders and wife, Carol, of Shelby, NC; daughter - Lynn Friday and husband, Donald, of Valrico, FL.; son - Lloyd Sanders and wife, Louise, of Greenwood, SC;  daughter - Ginger Sellers and husband, Mike, of Ennis, TX; daughter - Carol Givens and husband, Ronnie, of Wimauma, FL; daughter - Mary LaVine and husband, Mike, of Blacksburg, SC; 16 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 15, 2019, from 9:30 - 11:00 AM, at Hopewell Baptist Church, Blacksburg, SC.  A Celebration Of Life Service will begin at 11:00, with Joel Sanders and Rev. Lloyd Sanders officiating.  Burial will be in the Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers serving are Stephen LaVine, Ben Sanders, Travis Sellers, T.J. Sellers, Thomas LaVine, Curtis Sanders and Jesse Sellers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Cleveland County, NC.
