Edna Ruth (Childers) Thurston

Edna Ruth Thurston, 66, of 1237 Champion Ferry Rd., Gaffney, SC, went home to be with the Lord, September 12, 2018, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Born in Gaffney, SC, she is the wife of Richmond E. Thurston and daughter of the late Edward and Alice Childers. She was a member of Old Rugged Cross Baptist Church, Shelby, NC. She was a former employee of Oxford Mills. She loved her family, her six dogs, her plants and crocheting.

Left to cherish her memory, in addition to her husband, are her daughter - Kris Elliott and husband, Rick of Gaffney; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters - Barbara Ogle and husband, Charles, of Shelby, NC, and Annie Mae Spencer of Gaffney. In addition her parents, she is preceded in death her son - Richmond Leon Earl Thurston.

The family will receive friends Friday, September 14, 2018, from 10-11:00 AM at White Columns. A Graveside Celebration Of Life Service will begin at Noon at Unity Baptist Church Cemetery, Hickory Grove, SC, with Rev. Jerry Allen offiating. At other times, the family will be at the home of her daughter - 611 Filter Plant Rd, Gaffney, SC.

Pallbearers serving are Ricky Ogle, Johnny Mullinax and Dennis Seay.
