Bobby "Bob" Moore Obituary

 

Bobby "Bob" Ray Moore, 68, Blacksburg, SC, took his Heavenly flight and landed peacefully in the arms of Jesus in his eternal home Friday, November 30, 2018.

He was a loving husband to his wife of 21 years, Kathy Harrison Moore; a devoted father to Tricia Moore Willis and husband, Lee, of Blacksburg, and Chris Moore and his wife, Courtney, of Six Mile, SC; and a proud Poppy to his 3 grandchildren - Jerrod Willis, Jacob Willis and Charlotte Moore. Bob was also blessed with his two step-children - David Smith and his wife, Lisa, and Tina Smith Pollard and husband, Kris;  one sister - Jane Moore Wright of Shelby, NC and the mother of his children, Patsy Queen Moore of Blacksburg.  He continued to be blessed in love by 4 step-grandchildren - Linsea and Logan Smith Kolometz and Madison and Zack Pollard.

Bob was born on March 27, 1950 in Shelby, NC, to the late William Ray Moore and Phyrnia Frye Moore of Lattimore, NC. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Moore and one sister Ann Moore.

As a young boy, with an infectious smile and friendly personality, he grew to learn the importance of family and faith, the value of hard work and the love of the great outdoors as he worked on the family farm with the family business - Moore's Egg Service. As a young teen Bob developed a love for baseball. He played pitcher and catcher for Shelby Community and Blacksburg High School. He gave new meaning to the term "knock it out of the park" and was known through out the baseball community for his mean curve ball earning him the nickname "Satch" for his athletic ability on the baseball diamond.

After graduating Blacksburg HIgh School, Bob proudly served his country in the US Marine Corp. where he continued to develop his work ethic.

In Bob's later years he continued to have a smile that would light up a up a room and a friendly personality that helped him to never meet a stranger. His strong work ethic, love of the Lord, love of family and all things outdoors continued. As he was employed as an electrician for Duke Power and as an electrical maintenance technician for John's Manville Corporation, formerly Hoechst Celanese for many years where he recently retired.

Bob and his wife, Kathy, are members of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and were recently attending Old Rugged Cross in Shelby, NC, where he enjoyed worshipping his Lord and Savior with childhood friends and family. Not only was Bob an adored father, cherished Poppy, and loved husband, he was also an avid hunter and fisherman. His favorite hobbies include being in the woods hunting, on the lake fishing, driving his truck down long country roads, attending gospel and country music concerts, watching baseball games - especially the NY Yankees, enjoying his many animals including his favorite horse, Demo, dog - Candy, cat - Crash, and showing his unwavering love and devotion for his family, friends and community on a daily basis.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at White Columns, from 6-7:30 PM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, December 5, 2018, 2:00 PM, at Hopewell Baptist Church, with Rev. Jerry Allen, Rev. Eddie Bolin, and Jerrod Willis officiating. Interment will follow at Clingman Memorial Gardens, with full Military Honors. The family will be at the home of his daughter, 1429 E. Cherokee St., Blacksburg, SC.

Pallbearers serving are Jerrod Willis, Jacob Willis, Zack Tessner, Colby Tessner, Mike Hamrick, Joey McElrath and Fred Dover.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Old Rugged Cross Church, PO Box 336, Earl, NC, 28038 or to Shriner's Children's Hospital, Greenville, SC.
