Ill never forget the smiling face coming in the skating ring for years, usually help solve other peoples problems and somehow getting stuck in the middle of it. Always ready to help someone, even if that meant giving the shirt off of his back. Derrick always would come and check in at the snack bar or come inside where we gave shoes and help pick up during busy times. Never met a strangers and would talk to everyone he met. Ill never forget the countless rides home, having the deepest conversations about life and where he wanted to be. After leaving the skating ring, Derrick called me multiple times to make sure that I got his graduation invite and that I was aware of him starting 1152. It was nothing but enjoyment and laughter watching him crawl through mazes and throw on the heavy gear.. If you've ever met Derrick youd know you met a kid beyond ages.. Its been a pleasure knowing you Derrick. Rest Easy, love you

I didn't know Derrick personally but my daughter did. I can not imagine the pain you are all going through and I am so sorry for your loss. Throughout this I have learned a lot about him and what an amazing young man he was, how he loved his family, friends and the community

Fortunately, death is only a temporary part of life. Jesus promised us a wonderful resurrection of the dead (John 5:28,29/1 Thessalonians 4:13, 14), so we have the hope of being reunited with our deceased loved ones. In the meantime, even though the pain of loss through death may sometimes seem insurmountable, rest assured that God will give you the strength necessary to endure the coming months (Psalm 46:1).
Please accept my deepest sympathy and sincere condolences.

We are so very sorry to hear of Derrick's passing. . We can remember when Derrick was born and heard many good stories about him growing up when we worked with his Grandma Shirley. Such a fine young man, serving in the Fire Dept., at such a young age. For Shirley, and all the family, our heartfelt prayers are with you all during this very difficult time.

I am so sorry for the loss of Derrick.He was a very sweet young man! He came to see us often when Ricky would bring him to our home. He was always polite and was always glad to see us.He loved motorcycles every since he was a little boy.He would tell us what kind he wanted to get when he got older.Just a joy to know and love! God bless the family left behind!! I am here if you need me! Love you all!
